Mary Pat Hanlin, MSP, CMP, DES

Owner | Education and Meeting Consultant
Small associations and nonprofits do important work—often with limited staff, tight budgets, and very little room for error. Before becoming a consultant, Mary Pat Hanlin lived that reality every day in nonprofit leadership, balancing strategy, operations, and program delivery while keeping members, boards, and stakeholders engaged and moving forward.
As Chief Executive Officer of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD), Mary Pat led the organization through meaningful growth in membership and educational event participation. That progress wasn’t driven by scale for scale’s sake—it came from listening closely to members, strengthening systems and processes, making smart technology investments, and designing education and events that felt intentional, inclusive, and achievable for a small team. She oversaw financial management, strategic planning, program development, and all aspects of conference and event execution, giving her a deep understanding of how interconnected these functions are in smaller organizations.
Mary Pat’s background spans more than fifteen years in marketing, event management, sales, and customer service, including launching her own consulting practice to support small businesses and nonprofits. She holds a Master of Professional Studies in Global Hospitality Leadership from Georgetown University and maintains both CMP and DES credentials, along with active involvement in PCMA and ASAE.
This consulting practice was built for organizations like yours. Mary Pat partners with small associations and nonprofits to extend capacity, bring clarity to complex projects, and deliver education, meetings, and events that support mission-driven work—without overwhelming staff or budgets.
